New Name Reflects National Growth
In the last issue of the Notary Voice two exciting and important organizational announcements were made. The first was that our organization’s name had been changed to reflect the growth of our membership and our mission, from the former Mid-West Notary Association (MWNA), to the United Notary Association of America (UNAA). The UNAA organization has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year illustrating the motivation, drive and enthusiasm of members across the United States. Clearly, the need for an organization that provides the platform for a united voice among notaries and notary signing agents has been long overdue.
The second announcement was the structuring of state chapters, within the UNAA organization.
UNAA Mission Statement
The mission of the UNAA is to provide a professional and progressive business solution for notaries and notary signing agents, and to operate as the collective voice of the membership on a national level to the industry, the country, and the people they serve.
UNAA – The Organizational Structure
The goals are to put our voices together, to realize our national power and to take control of our own industry. With the structuring of the membership’s state chapters, the UNAA puts this into the hands of the notary in a localized and approachable way. Each state chapter is able to focus on their specific needs and issues – as well as combining the voices of those members to address the national issues. On the national level, the UNAA aims to work towards a greater standardization within the industry, and furthering the unity of our profession.
When people can take ownership of their profession or industry, they will put their heart and soul into improving upon its characteristics. Through state chapters and a combined national presence through the UNAA, the notary public’s voice will be heard. Through the pride of participation, accountability for our industry and ownership of our profession, our integrity and value as notaries public and notary signing agents will be renewed, revitalized, and resourced.
