expanding his services to surrounding states to include but not limited
to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Bill is looking to eventually

1) Please tell us a little about yourself and your Organization:
Iowa
Loan Closing Services, Inc. has been in operation for over six
years. We offer national, regional and local title companies a “turn
key” approach when scheduling and closing loans throughout Iowa. One of
our primary objectives is to establish a relationship with signing
agents/notaries statewide to provide consistent, fast and accurate
results for signing and title companies. We have 19 in our system
available today. ILCS is looking for 20-30 additional signing agents
within the state to complete our coverage.
2) In selecting a Notary to work with your Organization, what do you look for?
ILCS
looks for someone who has had experience in real estate, mortgage
origination/lending, legal or loan signing. In some instances the
company will train a person without prior experience. Training is fee
based. Excellent training materials are available through United Notary Association of America.
3) What (in your opinion) should a Notary/Signing Agent do to stand out from the rest?
Advertise,
work with several other notaries, always be punctual, re-check loan
documents after the closing – in front of the signers, always
return documents promptly, become as knowledgeable as possible on a
continuing basis, make weekly calls on title companies, law firms and
lenders.
4) If a Notary was part of a Network of Notaries in their area, would this be of benefit to you and your organization?
Absolutely, as it would lend itself to more business for the signing agent(s) and ILCS!

If you could give any advise to Notary Signing Agents who are trying to
build their business, (whether they are New to the industry or
seasoned) what would it be?
Network
as hard as one can through websites, notary organizations, notary
training, workshops, conventions, local presentations, phone book
advertising, social functions and cold calling. ABC’s for growth –
ALWAYS BE CLOSING!…and persistent.
6) Final comments
We
are looking for signing agents/notaries who exhibit professionalism,
attention to detail and a desire to increase their knowledge and
business base within our market. Dress and appearance, keeping an
up-to-date journal, re-checking documents at the signing table,
follow-through, commitment, growth and having fun are some of our fundamental requirements.
Our
continued focus in Iowa has led to surrounding states as well.
Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska will be offering like services, i.e.
Minnesota Loan Closing Services (mnloanclosings) in the near future.
