MIA? Who? What? UNAA members are conspicuously absent that's who. [Members In Absentia] There is a core of regulars who are either  starting discussions and/or responding to them offering a wealth of information for all members. But the VAST majority are not in evidence. So if you think you are missing something could it be that you are not visiting our website (http://www.unitednotaries.org)?

 The newsletters are great, and a lot of effort is put into packing them with information. However by the nature of publications, the newsletter IS NOT up to the minute. It’s not a complaint – just a reality.

What’s to be done then? Simply spend some time on the website – browse the forums, even add comments – but most importantly read the current news and information, which is so often highly pertinent and significant. It’s a place where notaries feel at home – and can ask ANY questions they have without being scoffed at or made fun of. No, instead there is always someone to take the question by the horns and come up with an answer. Even the most seasoned Notary visiting the site, has something to learn.

State specific news is another critical area – it’s true that much of this will get into a newsletter; but for timely delivery you need to check the site. That way you know up to the minute what’s being discussed, planned, offered up, changes being considered and so on.  Knowing all this keeps you an integral part of the process - in an organization which has been conceived of to be different and to make a difference.

It is growing exponentially all the time; but if members do not chime in, if they don’t just do their part: visit the site, update your profiles, read the forums, add some comments once in awhile, even start a thread if you get inspired or get stuck with an unanswered question – then all our efforts flounder.

I know how busy everyone is; but that has not prevented some of us from contributing routinely; and so should not prevent some nominal participation from everyone else. If you're skittish about writing in the more technical areas - consider browsing the Morning Coffee section for starters; there's all kinds of "non-notary business" stuff being posted there, ripe for comments - give it a try!
